When we moved in our home a few months ago I spent a lot of time decorating the kitchen. If you missed it you can read about it here and here. Then it was time to move on to the next room. I really wanted to do my bedroom but I spend most of my time in my office so that’s where I ventured to. This is where my creative juices really get flowing……sometimes too much!
If you read my blog then you know about my no-sew curtains I made a few weeks ago. If you are new to my blog you can read about my curtains here.
I decided to pull the chevron and French script design onto my walls. Now let me tell you this was no easy task. Sometimes my ideas just need to stay in my head. But, once I started it was too late to stop. So let’s take a look at my very long process.
This was how my office looked until it was time to tackle this project.
It was a very slow work in progress.
Once I made my curtains I wanted to mimic the design and colors onto my walls.
For me to match up the chevron I would need to make my own stencil.
After I copied the design from my fabric I cut it out with an exacto knife.
Now the French letters was not an easy task. I searched the internet and found one I really liked but not for $200….RIDICULOUS!!
So, I got on the computer and printed out my own French letters to make my own stencil.
The quote is, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams”.
Now that it took me forever to copy and cut out my stencils it was time to paint. First I taped off my walls and painted the section that is going to be stenciled. The color I used is Valspar “Heavenly”.
I painted the rest of the walls using Valspar “Baking Stone”.
Now here comes the fun….NOT!!
I started with the chevron design and the “Duchess Blue” matched my curtains perfectly.
Okay! This took longer then I thought it would but the excitement of seeing this come together as I had visioned is really exciting.
Then I started the French letters and thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown. I really got myself in deep with this decor idea. But, it was too late to quit at this point. All I have to say is that it’s a good thing the Mr. was out of town for the week or he would have heard language he never heard come out of his wife.
All I have to say is FINALLY!!!
What a relief this was to finally be done.
My stenciled wall matches my curtains perfectly just like I had envisioned.
The hard work paid off and would I do this again. Not sure about that one. But, come on in to my home office and take a look around.
What a big difference some curtains and paint make in a room. My Stenciled wall and curtains makes my office an enjoyable place to be in. Good thing!!! I live in this room.
I hope you were inspired to make your own stenciled walls!
