Dollar Store Candlestick

Dollar Store Candlestick

What do you do when a challenge is presented to you? Well, if you are like me you take it. A blogger friend came up with this idea to have a once a month linky party and calling it the “Great Dollar Store Challenge”. Now how fun does that sound?? So, a group of us bloggers set out on our first challenge and we are all excited to share them with you. This months challenge is to find something to do with dollar store candlesticks.

I already had a couple of these candle sticks so all I had to do was figure out what I wanted to do with them.

Candlesticks 1I figured if I was using dollar store candlesticks then I would see what else I could use from the dollar store for the project. I ended up leaving with a bag of rocks and a bag of moss. REALLY? Now what? Out of frustration I headed to my favorite craft store Hobby Lobby to see if an idea would pop in my head. Well, it just so happens I had an idea before I got there. I needed two glass candle holders which happen to be 50% off so they were only a couple dollars a piece. Now I have everything I need…perfect!

Candlestick projectsI glued the glass candle holders on to the top of the candlesticks and let dry for 24 hrs.

Candlestick CraftsI wrapped a little twine around the candlestick and put some rocks in the bottom of the candlestick. I had a small Daisy plant I got for like $4.99 at the local grocery store so I just split it in two. I put it in the candle holder and topped it with some moss. And, for a finishing touch I just tied a piece of twine around the candle holder.

And, wallah…

Craft with CandlesticksOnce you water them the water runs to the rocks and the plant will drink up when it’s thirsty. I think it’s a perfect gift to make for anyone that won’t break the bank.

Crafts with candlesticksNow if you are up for a challenge and would like to be apart of the “Great Dollar Store Challenge” then grab yourself some candlesticks and get crafting. Or, if you would like to check out all the amazing ideas that are being shared then come on over on the 4th Thursday of every month. (mark your calendars)
